Let us protect your family’s health

It’s your responsibility to protect your family from any dangers. One of the most ignored risks is the accumulation of radon in a home.

Radon is a colorless, odorless radioactive gas produced by decaying uranium. You will find it in almost all soils and sometimes in the air.

The radon problem comes about when the gas enters your home and gets trapped. When you inhale it over a long time, you are bound to suffer from lung cancer.

The gas can enter a home in various ways. It can get in from the soil, seep in through concrete pores and in other cases, get in through the gaps in the walls and floor. You should note that any house, regardless of its age is at the risk of elevated radon levels.

Due to the carcinogenic nature of the gas, it’s wise that you contact radon experts such as EnviroCare to help you come up with radon mitigation measures.

Radon testing

At EnviroCare we specialize at radon testing to help you know whether your family is at risk. We undertake three main types of tests: short-term tests, long-term radon tests, and continuous radon tests.

Short-term tests are meant to decide whether further testing is necessary. The tests are charcoal or electret ion based and measure radon levels for two to seven days.

Long-term radon tests measure radon levels for 90 days to one year. Since a longer period is involved, the tests are more accurate. While this is the case, the results can sometimes vary depending on the air pressure, variable soil moisture, gusty winds, and snow cover that traps the gases.

Continuous radon tests require the installation of monitors in the house for continuous testing. Our technicians usually use an ionization chamber to sample the air continuously.

A home is said to have a radon problem when the long term test results are 4 picocuries per liter (pCi/L) or higher. When the levels are high, the EPA recommends immediate action to reduce the levels.

Radon Abatement

After confirming the high radon concentrations in your home, we rush to mitigate the condition. We start with inspecting the house then install a radon mitigation system that fits your home design. We might install a special in-line radon fan in the attic or outside the house.

If the house has a simple design, we simply run a vent outside and draw out the carcinogenic air.
